Californ-i-a

Well, we've made it as far west as we can go...the Pacific Ocean!  Before arriving in California, we spent a few weeks in Arizona.  Visiting the Petrified Forest National Park, Flagstaff, Prescott and Phoenix.

Hiking around Petrified Forest.  Pretty cool trees, millions of years old.  They look kind of like rocks.

Mountain biking in Prescott, Arizona.  We've officially arrived in the desert.

A roadrunner on the trail.

We stayed at our friend's mom's house for over a week in Phoenix.  Such a blast.  Thanks, Peg!
Mountain biking at South Mountain in Phoenix, some petroglyph carvings in the rock.

Hiking Camelback Mountain in Phoenix.

Hiking in McDowell Rec Area with Peg.

Luke headed in to the Superstition Wilderness for a 3 day backpacking trip while Kristin stayed in Phoenix hanging with Peg.

Ultra lightweight camping.  No tent, just a hammock.  Great with all the cacti around.

The only water for miles around.

Hiking in the Superstitions.

We're in Oceanside, California staying at a friend's place about one block from the beach.  Not a bad gig.

View from Erin's porch.

We plan on staying in California at least for the month of December, brushing up on our sailing skills.  Who knows where we'll be in January....
