Our stuff is in storage and our backpacks are packed. We're heading to USVI today, flying over night, and arriving in St. Thomas tomorrow. So grateful for this adventure and spending the first day of the new year in the islands. Phase II of K-Bolt has begun.
Happy New Year!

Caribbean, baby!
It's set. We leave December 31 to fly to the U.S. Virgin Islands, ringing in the New Year in the air and spending the first day of 2012 on the islands. From USVI, anything goes!
First stop - St. Thomas, USVI.
We'll post our own pictures as soon as we can - although internet access will be pretty limited.

Sailing!
So far California has been great! The weather has been mostly sunny and warm.
Luke's been getting out to surf a few times a week.
Sunset from Erin's porch.
Since we hadn't been on a sailboat since April, we rented a small Capri 22 sailboat in the San Diego Harbor and sailed around for a day.
San Diego from the boat.
With our confidence up, we chartered a 35' Beneteau in Marina del Rey for one week. We sailed everyday and slept on the boat each night. Some people find living on a boat to be rather cramped, but coming from living out of the Suburban and Big Red and tent camping, it was a huge upgrade for us. We saw lots of sea lions and saw a whale on our last day.
Watching the full moon rising from our boat in the harbor.
Inside our boat.
Sailing!
Luke relaxing at the helm.
View of Venice Beach and Santa Monica.
Taking a lunch break.
A celebration of meat, cheese, crackers and Prosecco in the cockpit!
We've been spending a lot of time planning our next move and we're thinking we may be heading to the Caribbean early January! We'll see....
