After leaving Missoula, we drove west into the Selway Bitterroot Wilderness in Idaho. We did a short 10 mile back packing trip to Stanley Hot Springs...a natural hot spring. Well worth the hike in! We got in a few days of soaking and only saw a handful of other people.
Hiking in.
The hot spring. There were a few pools - one right around 101 degrees, the other was way too hot to get into.
Soaking in the springs.
We took a day or two off after the hot springs and then headed to Hells Canyon in western Idaho along the Idaho/Oregon border. We did a 32 mile loop in 6 nights, taking a couple of days off to enjoy the back country lakes and fishing.
Hiking in to the Seven Devils Mountains. Day One.
Our first night at Brendan Lakes.
Day Two. Short detour to an old fire lookout with great views into Hells Canyon and the Snake River.
Hiking Day Two.
Kristin taking a break.
On Day Two we stayed at Baldy Lake and ended up camping here for the next three nights...we had it all to ourselves. On Day Three, Kristin stayed at the lake and Luke scrambled up to summit Devil's Throne (elevation approximaly 9,200 feet).

Hiking Day Five.
Day Six - Cannon Lakes.
Last Day, hiking out. Packs were MUCH lighter by this time and nearly all our food gone.
We are currently in Boise, Idaho checking out the town and waiting out the rain storm that's supposed to last a few days. From here, we plan on going into the Sawtooth Mountains for another backpacking trip - so long as the snow stays away.
